Ultimate boating bragging rights will be up for grabs when the Geraldton Yacht Club (GYC) Dragon Boat Classic returns to the Geraldton Foreshore on Sunday 29 September.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary the Dragon Boat Classic will form a thrilling and inclusive part of the Sunshine Festival celebrations.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is encouraging businesses, sporting clubs and groups of friends to register a team.
“Whether you are a participant or a spectator the Dragon Boat Classic promises excitement for everyone,” he said.
“There is no better way to build team spirit than successfully getting 16+ people to paddle together in unison and with this year being the 30th iteration of the event the stakes are even higher.
“So I urge all would be paddlers to get a crew together, fire up the group chat, book in some training sessions and I look forward to seeing everyone down on the Foreshore to cheer on the paddlers as they race for the finish line.”
The 30th GYC Dragon Boat Classic is open to teams of 16-18 people.
Registrations must be lodged by Friday 20th September, more information is available on the Geraldton Yacht Club website at www.gycwa.com.au under Upcoming Events or by contacting the GYC office on 08 9964 1664.
