Women on Wheels Geraldton is back next month in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event encourages greater participation in active transport, raises awareness of local cycling path connectivity and aligns with International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March.

This year’s theme of “Accelerate Action” urges the community to get together and celebrate the women in their life with a leisurely bike, skate, glide, roller skate or scooter ride along the coast.

City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor Natasha Colliver is thrilled to see the event return and encouraged everyone to join in.

“After all the positive feedback from last year’s event, it was a no-brainer to bring Women on Wheels Geraldton back and I’m delighted to participate once again,” she said.

“This year will be bigger and better than ever as we have a brand-new eight-kilometre route starting at the Point Moore Lighthouse and heading south to Glendinning Park before looping back and finishing at Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club!

“So dust off your wheels, put on your most glamourous outfit, strap on your helmet and come join the fun.”

Women on Wheels Geraldton is open to everyone and will take place on Sunday 9 March at 10am commencing at Bob Davies Park opposite the Point Moore Lighthouse before progressing along the coast to Glendinning Park and then returning to Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club

Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace and to stop for breaks and selfies along the way as well as use the hashtag #womenonwheelsgeraldton and tag the City in any photos or videos on social media.

After the event finishes at Geraldton Surf Life Saving Club, participants will have the chance to enjoy a complimentary coffee and the opportunity to purchase a delicious, healthy lunch.

Women on Wheels Geraldton is part of the City’s Active Travel Program which has been generously 50% funded over three years by the Department of Transport.

Those wanting to take part in the Women on Wheels Geraldton event must register for free via Humanitix.
