WELCOME TO OUR 2024 WILDFLOWER REPORT

What an amazing season. Early everlastings starting to fade and seed. Orchids will follow as temperatures rise and rain decreases. Still lots of flowers around. Don’t overlook the beautiful flowering shrubs. This will be the last report for this season. I’m headed to the Southwest to enjoy their beautiful wildflowers. Enjoy your wildflower journeys.
KALBARRI: The National Park offers a wide range of flowers at the inland gorges and the coastal strip. The wildflowers are looking good with updates and a map available to the Visitor Centre. Updates posted on Kalbarri Visitor Centre website. FB Kalbarri Visitor Centre
CHAPMAN RIVER PARK: Located in the northern suburbs of Geraldton and offers a range of flowers, with flowering bushes a feature. Chapman River Friends offer guided educational walks on the weekend during Aug & Sept. FB Chapman River Friends. They have a great app to identify flowers. Just search – CRF Wildflowers.
TENINDEWA: 20kms west of Mullewa. Head north on the Yuna Road for about 500m. Turn in at the Pioneer Well sign and drive the loop. Beautiful coverage of flowers with early everlastings starting to fade and seed. Bushes flowering now.
MULLEWA: is a great to base. The season is changing, so call into the Mullewa Visitor centre, for the latest info and best locations, open daily. FB Mullewa Visitor Centre.
Visit Helen Ansell's Gallery for native flora and fauna artworks. Open 9am - 3pm everyday August and September with coffee and cake available to purchase.
PINDAR: for wreath flowers. Travel east of Mullewa for 30kms and turn into Pindar. Drive past old Pindar pub (a private residence) and left into Berringarra Road. Travel 10kms north on dirt road. One way road system around the wreathflowers. The plants are looking fantastic with full circles of flowers. Check out other nearby flowers as well.
CANNA: Offers colour with Hakea, Melaleuca, Grevillia, Isopogon and Fringed Lily. A few Donkey Orchids remain as the orchid season winds down. The ground flowers coming to an end. FB Canna WA – Wildflower Country.
MORAWA: Bushes flowering on the roadside as the everlastings start to fade and seed. Wreathflowers on White Road currently and around 40 wreaths 52kms north of Morawa on the road to Yalgoo. Visit the Info centre for wildflower updates. Located cnr Prater & Dreghorn streets, 10am-2pm. (4pm if volunteers available) currently but may change in the future. PERENJORI: Bushes flowering roadside. With warmer weather, everlasitngs starting to seed. Call at info centre 9am-3pm weekdays (+ some Sat’s) for updates and best locations. Wreathflowers at Orchid Ridge in full flower. Bushes now flowering nicely. FB Perenjori Community Resource Centre for local info
COALSEAM CONSERVATION PARK: has a good coverage of flowers, with early everlasting varieties starting to seed. Lots to see. Camp amongst the flowers but book before arriving at the park.
MINGENEW: The Visitor Centre is open Mon-Fri 9am-3pm and weekends 9am-1pm and a great place for up to date flower information. Pom poms starting to dry out on Mingenew Hill but still spectacular views. FB Mingenew Visitor Centre.
DEPOT HILL: is on the Allanooka Springs Rd, 10kms northeast of Mingenew on the road to Geraldton. A good range of flowering scrubs up the hill. Orchids will struggle with the heat. Everlastings now seeding.
ENEABBA – BADGINGARRA ON BRAND HIGHWAY: This sand plain area has an extensive range of flowers. Some spotted recently - the pink Hakea neurophylla, Dryandra nobilis spectacular. Smokebushes, yellow Verticordia, the blue Lechenaultia, bright golden Hakea Eneabba and wattles. Great tours on Hi Vallee. Contact Don on 9652 3035
LESUEUR NATIONAL PARK: is north of Jurien Bay and inland. A summer fire went through the entry and exit areas of the park. The flowering scrubs in the park are now putting on a show.
