Iwarra Wilungga will return to the Midwest on Saturday 6 April 2024 at Queens Park Theatre in an even bigger and better celebration of Aboriginal culture through art, music and dance.
This family friendly festival will open with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by engaging performances by Aboriginal dancers, bands and solo musicians.
Alongside live entertainment, this event will offer workshops and stalls providing authentic Aboriginal experiences as well as the opportunity to learn about Aboriginal culture.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is looking forward to the return of this inclusive festival.
“Iwarra Wilungga was hugely successful in its inaugural year and we have been working hard to ensure that it will be even more popular this time around,” he said.
“Not only will this event be a rollicking good time it will also provide festival goers with a fantastic opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Indigenous culture.
“I encourage everyone to join us for this truly unique festival and I thank Tourism Western Australia for their generous funding that has made this event possible”.
As part of the Iwarra Wilungga Festival the Midwest community is invited to submit photos that encapsulate ‘Best Moments on Country’.
Alongside prizes for the winners, all successful entries will be featured in an exhibition hosted by Geraldton Museum of WA between 23 March – 29 April 2024. Winners will also be announced on stage at the festival.
Photos must be submitted before Monday 15 January 2024 via the City’s website.
